Property Tax Deferral Program
The Senior Citizen Property Tax Deferral Program allows people 65 years of age and older, whose incomes are $60,000 or less, to defer a portion of their property tax on their home. This is not a forgiveness program - it is a low interest loan from the state. The deferred property taxes become due upon the sale or transfer of the property. Learn more from the Minnesota Department of Revenue.
For more information contact the Orono Finance Director or the Department of Revenue.
Homestead Information
Homestead applies to properties occupied as primary residences by their owners or relatives. The program may qualify the property for a reduced classification rate, reduced taxable market value, property tax refund, and special program eligibility. Hennepin County processes all Homestead applications. Visit their website to apply or find out more information.
